Kung Fu Hustle

I finally get to watch Kung Fu Hustle at AXN yesterday. What a lousy, mou lei tau, scriptless film. I rate this movie 2/10. Luckily I didn't watch this movie at the cinema last time. Or else I'll be very disappointed. Anyone is a fan of this movie ? Please tell me why you like this movie so very much.

Don't get me wrong ya because I'm a fan of Stephan Chow Sing Chi. I've been following his work since his heyday at TVB. But this film...ahhh it's just not him.

FYI, Kung Fu Hustle was nominated for Best Foreign Film for next year's Golden Globe Award :)

Yeah, I agree, too much computer generated effect.

I prefer his lame jokes last time.

I also did not like the script. This film is supposed to be slap stick comedy cum actions and they have all there. I did enjoy the stunts and the choreograhy of kung fu flicks and actions. Bet you that Hollywood or Walt Disney will not be able to match the kung fu actions.
Watch a second time and you will enjoy it better - hahaha!

I *LOVE* it.

The special effects were incredibly very well-choreographed and executed. Some say they were over-the-top, but a less creative person would never be able to come up with something so hilarious.

The story is classic. At least there were no stupid and unnecessary twists like most Hong Kong movies. For example, a police detective who is 100% good in the first 3/4 of a movie, SUDDENLY becomes the backstabbing bad guy, just to add a "twist" to the movie. Or SUDDENLY, the girlfriend develops cancer, just to make the audience cry. Now, THOSE are stupid lah.

Golden Globe nomination is a joke..

For me Kung Fu is quite ok, the fighting are quite entertaining, and can still see some sparkle of fun and humor.. not bad at all from entertainment point of view.

Alex Allied - Yup, too much computer generated effect until some scenes look like cartoon.

LeRoy - I didn't even laugh once. The kung fu minus special effect is something :)

Jeremy C - You always agree with what I said. :ppp

Aw - Too much special effect for me until it looks unreal. But I like the fighting part.

Jee - I think they got nominated because of the fighting scene, hehehe. The scene that look the most unreal(for me) was when 2 men were playing the traditional music instrument and lastly you can see several skleton soldiers. Bah...That one very Hollywood.

I watched it in a cinema. Quite a number of Malays too. The movie won quite a number of awards this year alone (in China). The Golden Globe Awards will be a bonus.

At first I thought it was a totally crappy, seriously lame, overly exaggerated movie. Surprisingly it won quite a number of awards. *Faints*

I fail to see why that is so. Maybe I really don't know how to appreciate this genre of movies. I don't call it comedy. Meet The Parents was a comedy but I enjoyed it a great deal. Maybe Kung Fu Hustle can be called a "ultra-lame-ass comedy".

I liked the movie alot only because it was funny. The cgi animation weren't bad at all.

I didn't see it in the cinema, just watched it on DVD early this year.

Is it possible that maybe u watched the movie on a bad day? :>

... i was prepared for a spell of mindless comedy. i found it hilarious, so blatantly surreal n cartoonish, heh!heh!... minus some scenes that were too harsh for my delicate senses. surprisingly enuff, i njoyed it very well although it's diff. fr the genres that i more decidedly prefer. ;DD
